Hi everybody !
It's a 5.1 release box .. I recall the last thing I had done before last shutdown was an extraction of src.tar.gz to /usr .. On reboot I got this : Code:
Starting local daemons : Abort trap /etc/rc.d/cron : need root privileges /etc/rc.d subr [164]: [:0: unexpected operator/operand init : can't exec getty /usr/libexec/getty for port /dev/ttyc0: Is a directory (more hints : I haven't yet applied the security fix for 5.1 .. I was using amule ) |

You should not have unpacked the source into /usr, but into /usr/src.
Boot into single user mode (-s at the boot> prompt), mount -a, and then inspect your system for the damage you have done. Then repair or recover from backup. Remember how many time times I recommended regular backups?
