I am confused. What was the problem, mv(1) or rm(1)?

Hi .. $ sudo rm -R ..
is there a native OpenBSD restore tool for this kind of mistakes ? |

Thank you.
Only forensic tools can help you now. The Sleuth Kit is in packages.

Thanks Phoenix ! I was helplessly unable to change the title.
Thanks Jgimmi ! I installed sleuthkit .. but fls can't find the deleted file .. is ceating an image of the home partition mandatory ?? then I'd rather redownload those iso files .. lol .. yet .. learning is better than just retreaving those files :-) |

Your questions about The Sleuth Kit are likely to be answered by spending time with the documentation and resources at www.sleuthkit.org -- start there. This forum is not the proper medium for getting instruction on the basics of digital forensics.

Thanks for the link , @Jgimmi !
apart from that .. maybe there is a way to prevent sudo rm -R to permanently delete files .. to rather put them in Trash for instance .. to be removed after reboot .. |
