Sparc 20 won't boot after Net BSD 4.1 install
Forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place. Here is my problem. I just installed NetBSD 4.1 from CD on My SPARC 20 (Specs:
SMCC SPARCstation 10/20 UP/MP POST version VRV3.45 (09/11/95)
CPU_#0 TI, STP1021PGA(1.x) 1Mb External cache
CPU_#2 TI, STP1021PGA(1.x) 1Mb External cache
SPARCstation 20 MP (2 X SuperSPARC-II), No Keyboard
ROM Rev. 2.25, 160 MB memory installed, Serial #.
Ethernet address 8:0:20:7c:86:d2, Host ID: 727c86d2)
What happens is I get this message:
Boot device: /iommu/sbus/espdma@f,400000/esp@f,800000/sd@3,0:b File and args:
The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.
Type help for more information
Any clues guys on how I go about fixing this?
This is after successful install right? From what I have found on the net it seems you need to reinstall boot blocks, something like this:
/usr/sbin/installboot /dev/rwd0a /usr/mdec/bootblk
Also, if you could, try installing newer 5.1 release and see if it gets better.
The best way to learn UNIX is to play with it, and the harder you play, the more you learn.
If you play hard enough, you'll break something for sure, and having to fix a badly broken system is arguably the fastest way of all to learn. -Michael Lucas, AbsoluteBSD
