Object-oriented programming is eliminated entirely from the introductory curriculum, because it is both anti-modular and anti-parallel by its very nature, and hence unsuitable for a modern CS curriculum.

A proposed new course on object-oriented design methodology will be offered at the sophomore level for those students who wish to study this topic.

It's nice how these top schools have the credibility to take these kinds of positions. I wonder what language they use for their operating systems course.

I also wonder if it's a coincidence that Bjarne Stroustrup chose this week to make this essay describing how he teaches students at Texas A and M (http://www2.research.att.com/~bs/software.pdf) the article of the day on his home page.
