what problem? what fix?
syslogd is writing to /var/log/security if there is anything with security.* facility if there isn't syslogd doesn't write into anything

ipfw(8) also logs to LOG_SECURITY (the security facility).
@paul-lkw: Instead of worrying about what is / is not in /var/log/security, please explain the exact information you are looking for. You may just need to be pointed to a different log to discover it.
