Actually, I find the "new" wlan more complicated than required, why do we need a wlan0 device and can't we just use iwn0 or rl0 or whatever?


# zzz seems to work with FreeBSD 8.2-RC3 on my T61. \o/
More testing etc. needed though, but it's an improvement over the previous situation (Where noting happened).

Xorg/Intel GMA still slow though ... Kind of something I learned to live with :-/

The zzz command always woked for me, on any laptop, it just did not wake up

Now with 8.2-RELEASE I am able to successfully zzz and then wake up my Dell Latitude E6400 which is very nice, of course it hangs if I lanuch zzz comand during mplayer movie, but without mplayer it works as advertised.

Because of wlan0? Sorry, that's nonsense. It's now possible to create virtual interfaces for the same adapter (aka virtual access points). It's part of this: http://www.freebsd.org/news/status/r...Virtualization

Its possible to create only ONE wlan* device over wireless card (iwn0 in my case), so whats the point in creating it?

Nope, you are now able to configure many virtual devices for just one hardware adapter. So you get an access point.

How ... I can not create more then one wlan* virtual adapter as I showed in example, or maybe I should rebuild kernel with VIMAGE to be able to do that?

I'm sorry, it's in German, but you should understand the pictures (lock at page 6ff.) and get a glimpse about what's possible with this multi-bss in FreeBSD.
