Archaeologists Unearth Prehistoric Pentium Chip



This stunningly well preserved archaeological find was dug up from the frozen tundra near Tappleytown, Canada. The processor measures about 4.5 feet (1.4 meters) square. Carbon dating tests indicate an origin in the Permian period. The CPU is believed to have once run an operating system called DimetroDOS, a forerunner of CP/M and, in turn, Windows 7. The complete structure is, of course, entirely made of wood. It appears to be an early from of particle-board -- an amalgamation of many wood chips -- leading to speculation the processor may have been highly multi-core in nature. Scientists continue to dig in the area searching for traces of a mainboard.

Important Programming Truths ..

If it compiles, it works.

If it compiles, it's correct.

If it runs, it doesn't have any bugs.

If it doesn't have any immediately obvious bugs, it's perfect.

Doing something right is easy. Avoiding errors only takes a bit of concentration.

The shorter the source code, the faster the program.

So my daughters laptop won't boot and it looks like we are going to need to reinstall windows. But, being that she has been play Skyrim everyday this summer, I wanted to try and get her saved games off the disk just incase.

So, I use a live rescue disk, so that I could mount the windows disk and ftp the files to my workstation with the 2TB data drive.

So, about 30 minutes into copying the save files over and seeing save number1982 go by, I decided to ask her how many saved games she had.

7,752 saves...is the answer. The good news is that she tells me that she only needs from save 4426!

Each saved games is between 7 and 12MB in size. I'm up to 30GB of Skyrim saves so far!
