Hi, there are a new generation of Dell RAID card called Dell H700, it supports few RAID configurations including RAID5 which I need to setup in my new server.
did somebody have installed OpenBSD or FreeBSD with such hardware? Or do you know if its compatible with OpenBSD or FreeBSD ? Note: I know that the PERC 5i and 6i are compatible but have no idea about these new H700 hardware cards! thanks in advance!! Aldo |

Per http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-cvs&m=127014894512651&w=2 the H700 was added to OpenBSD's mfi(4) driver on the 1st day of April this year.
This was after 4.7-release. You will need to run -current.

Great! I have the 4.6 so will download the 4.7 right away!
One more question, sorry for my ignorance but will that driver load in a default cd boot? or should I tweak something? |

He said it was added after the 4.7 release, so you'll need to either use snapshots or wait for 4.8... if you're a programmer, backporting might be an option, but that's entirely unsupported.
As for your other question, drivers are part of the generic kernel.. they're not modular in OpenBSD. |

There is a snapshot iso located at /pub/OpenBSD/snapshots/i386/install47.iso dated on /7/2010 10:12:00 AM do you think that it could contain that driver?
thanks again! |

my typo, it is dated on 7/7/2010

Please read FAQ 5.1. You need to understand what -current is, and what a snapshot is. All your questions should be answered.

But in this case, mfi(4) is included in the full (used on the CD) RAMDISK kernel.

![]() One thing that should be mentioned, the RAMDISK_CD kernel is not exactly the "full" RAMDISK kernel, that would be the one on the FTP mirrors, it does have some devices compiled into it that RAMDISK_CD does not. |

What about the Dell PERC 6/i is it supported too? (either in 4.7 or snapshot?)
thanks in advance! Aldo |

Please click on the mfi(4) man page link above. Please.
