J65nko is right. But I have to say that although the volume is lower here the content and quality is usually better.

J65nko may be right - the FreeBSD forums may be a big factor... FreeBSD has the largest user base out of {Free|Open|Net}BSD, so it'd be natural that more traffic is directed at their forums.
I, too, recall the BSDForums days, and the number of new posts/replies dwarfed those here. If I'm not mistaken, the early days of this forum were a lot busier, too. But roddierod hit it on the head, too - we do have low traffic, but the signal-to-noise ratio is astronomical, ESPECIALLY compared to other forums.

I'd forgotten about FreeBSD Forums. And no Open or Net sections over there! Which is understandable, but kinda stinks. Official forums seem a bit silly when there is great documentation and mailing lists.
And if you haven't noticed, Carpetsmoker, I have been coming here! For a couple of days, at least...

And you have added to the knowledge base of the BSDs.

I like quiet , simple , clean forums .. daemonforums is on top of the list .. I wouldn't be exaggerating when I say most often I find solutions and benefits here more than elsewhere (including marc&gmane)
Thanks for offering such a space. |
