Hi again !
Those files ending with .core .. that reside at home or wherever the current directory is -when a respective application is launched- .. what do they serve ? are they a necessity ? they may be unwelcome when on a small size flash disk while those consume hundreds of megabytes ..

You can delete them manually or via scripting in /etc/daily.local if you prefer. See daily(8).

You can not coredump by setting "ulimit -c 0" in your .profile. That will stop programs from core-dumping onto the filesystem, but if you want to debug something you'll have to unset it.

Oh, thank you; I'd completely forgotten that the controlling shell can limit core dumps. Good point!

(For C shells, the setting would be "limit coredumpsize 0")
