Write failed: Broken pipe .. while updating ports tree

Hi !

I was updating my ports tree via anoncvs .. in the end I got this message :

Write failed: Broken pipe

What's wrong here ?

Also , I get this message repeated many times :

 
cvs update: ignoring CVS/Root because it specifies a non-existent repository /cvs

One more silly but preoccupying question :
Will it harm if I update my src tree & ports tree at the same time (via the same anoncvs server) ?

The CVS tree contains branches which are no longer used. If you are downloading the CVS tree in its entirety, you are wasting time, bandwidth, & disk space. If your interest is only the ports tree, download as described in Section 5.3.3 of the FAQ.

With the added congestion you are adding to the connection, & the fact that a single server is handling both requests, you will likely not update your local trees in half the time.

True, but in this instance, the repeated warning message is referring to /cvs. This is usually the root of the repository. I think, in this case, either an incorrect cvs update command was executed, or (if used) $CVSROOT was incorrectly set. We haven't seen the commands used to produce the error, nor the $CVSROOT if set, so ... I wouldn't be able to confirm one or the other.

Odds favor the repository behaving correctly. Which means ... odds are long that there was a typo in either the -d option or the $CVSROOT if used.
