I use the 3ware SATA cards and they seem to have good support.
Check the hardware compatibility list for the version of FreeBSD you are using on the FreeBSD.org website. |

3ware is nice but too expensive for my request. I'm looking for VIA controller with VT6421A chipset.

I have a cheap Syba SA3114 SATA card in my personal file server.
It uses the Silicon Image 3114 chipset. It isn't anything spectacular, but it works. |
