One of the NetBSD forums is called: "NetBSD Ports and Packages".

I wonder if it would be more appropriate to instead call the forum "NetBSD Packages".

The reason is that in the context of NetBSD, a port does not refer to a third-party application. Rather, it refers to a system architecture.

Port

This is the term used by FreeBSD and OpenBSD people for what we call a package. In NetBSD terminology, “port” refers to a different architecture.

Just a thought. :)

Embellishing on anomie's suggestion, how about "NetBSD packages system" given that this is the name used in The pkgsrc guide (http://netbsd.org/docs/pkgsrc/index.html)?

This seems like very sound reasoning to me. Thank you for the suggestion. :) The name has now been changed.
