I started a new job about 3 months ago and Solaris 9/10 are the UNIX platforms in use..
Finally convinced management to send me to at least one Solaris Class..

I now see why management ho-hummed about it..
The class costs 3500 US.. That is stupid-crazy..

While I am on topic.. Any Solaris gurus hang out here..

Oh.. I am setting up an OpenBSD box to run Nagios.. the BigBrother
box that is running right now just isn't working right...

While I'm not a guru per se, I'm working on getting my SCSA for Solaris 10. I primarily use FreeBSD however.

Are you a nagios expert? (I promise not to abuse it if you are, but I have a couple of issues I haven't been able to solve yet.)

Actually not an expert.. I just used the ping-poll function and some
snmp stuff.. getting it set up on OpenBSD is almost trivial..

I have all the configs on an unmounted disk..

If you want I can post them back..

We should probably move the Nagios discussion to another thread..

Sure.. I can try and answer.. this forum (rather the old one) has helped me a bunch

I'm not actually taking the classes (too much for me to pay out of pocket) but leveraging my existing UNIX knowledge and using a few books and study tools (practice exams, etc) to get me up to speed. So far so good.

I am really hoping I get a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor..
There are a lot of questions I need answered.. :)

I *almost* went the an SCA boot camp a couple of years ago.. but since our
group was Solaris "slim" there wasn't a need..

Good luck with the Cert Test..
