So i tried customizeing the boot up splash on DesktopBSD. where is says DesktopBSD loading....
i found what i wanted ( =D megan fox) replaced the splash with her, saved it and i got an error. it said error: cannot make backup files.
i am obviously assuming this is another user permissions error *SIIIIIGGGHHHH*

that is it right there. i can overwrite the file because it cant make a backup of the file i over wrote. and im imagining its a user permission error. im on my made user. but i go to edit my user permissions and it says im system admin... yet i cant over write files that are outside of my home folder O_O

The system onyl see's numeric user and group ids,
User Identification # (UID) 0 == only the kernel is more powerful they thou, and that usually comes into play when doing things in /dev/ that can't be done without coding it.
What program are you using to save the file
What program (if any) are you using to remove the old file
How and where does the error appear
etc.
Because generally you don't get such errors ^_^ and remember not everyone uses the same programs.
I for one would be copying the file to a save location with cp and then mv'ing the new one into place as root from my users home directories Pictures folder.
